RDA Diary Entry 5: 12/21

It is the most challenging day of my RDA experience. I was on my own with Xuan. Due to the Christmas holidays, the sidewalkers have gone home, and all the responsibility falls on me. I was so nervous---if anything happens to Xuan. I am the only one who has to handle it. Despite being a bit nervous, I trust my skills.

Xuan was not affected by the absence of the sidewalks. She was excited to try trotting again, but it was so tough to manage it on my own. It is a balancing act, keeping the horse controlled while making sure Xuan feels safe and supported. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage to fulfill her wish to trot on my own. Xuan sometimes loses attention while on the horse, and I need to bring her back into the moment.

We also did a fun holiday activity to celebrate, where the kids placed Christmas hats onto ocnes. Xuan was reulctant at first, but then she became more familiar with the task, decided to do it in her own way. She rolled up the hat and push it into the hole instead, showing me her problem-solving skills and creativity.

Xuan had a huge smile on her face as we celebrated Christmas, singing the christmas carols. She shook her hands to the rhythm. It's moments like these that remind me why this work is so meaningful.

Merry Christmas!
