RDA Diary entry 8. 2/12

Today I met Daniel. He is our new student with severe autism. He only talks with his dad and does everything his dad tells him. When he got on the horse, he kept looking for his dad and did not feel safe. He never spoke to me, and communication was very hard. His dad spoke Spanish to him, which made language a bigger barrier. His dad told him to greet us, so he came to shake my hand, but that was the only time. He did not want to touch the horse either.
I felt a little tired and discouraged. With Xuan, even though she can be difficult, she still listens sometimes. I hope things get better next week!
